The Great American Showcase 2011 : A Labor Day Celebration for a Good Cause!

Rating 4.00 out of 5

Labor Day weekend is almost here and every hard-working American knows that the best way to unwind is with good friends, great beer, and awesome music. To make things easier for us, a brand new San Diego music festival is arriving in town just in time to supply all of the above on September 4 from 2 to 10pm.

The Great American Showcase will provide San Diegans with a simple yet essential celebration consisting of classic food, amazing tunes, and some nice cold brewskies. With a “Vaudeville” theme, also known as “the heart of American show business,” you know the talent and atmosphere itself is sure to be outstanding. This 21 and up event is taking place outside of the El Dorado Cocktail Lounge in East Village and will feature over 15 musical artists, with live performances spanning over two separate stages. A beer garden will be set up, serving handcrafted brews from one of our favorite local breweries, the award-winning Mission Brewery.

The outdoor stage will feature live performance by renowned local and global musicians. Highlights include a set by notorious punk band The Soft Pack, formerly known as The Muslims. The Nervous Wreckords will be making you dance with their witty lyrics and ‘70s inspired guitar riffs as crowd favorite DJ Numark puts on a creative stage show. Also performing are The Howls, a folk rock band out of San Diego, along with The Creepy Creeps, Old English, Grand Tarantula, Lyon Crowns, and Joy. Special guests Euphoria Brass Band and Adam Salter will also be making appearances. The indoor stage will showcase further talent, including Kevin Martin, Corey Biggs, Mattson2, Bubble Gum Sci Fi, Saul Q, Profile, Blancnoir, DJ All Good, and The Kabbs.

What makes this event even better is it’s all for a good cause. A portion of each ticket sale will benefit Keep a Breast Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to increase breast cancer awareness among the younger generation. The organization uses art events and educational programs to educate youth on early detection and methods of prevention, as well as to provide support whenever needed.

The Great American Showcase tickets cost $20 if bought in advance (and include one free drink) or $25 at the door. Visit greatamericanshowcase.us for further information or to purchase tickets. El Dorado is located at 1030 Broadway Street in downtown San Diego’s East Village. This is going to be an awesome Labor Day Celebration, so all you workers out there, give yourself a pat on the back for all your hard work, and sit back and relax, this day is for you!
