The 2012 Drew Brees Celebrity Championship returns for its 14th year, all weekend long from May 18-20 at La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad. This outstanding event will benefit the Brees Dream Foundation, established in 2003 by Drew and Brittany Brees. The tournament will bring together over 50 of the best celebrity golfers in the world to compete in two day Celeb-Am Tournament (May 18th -19th) and a 36-hole, celebrity only competition (May 19th - 20th) for a $100,000 purse and the coveted Drew Brees Celebrity Championship trophy. Although the tournament runs from Friday to Sunday, the fun begins Thursday, May 17th, for a Red Carpet Reception…sorry guys, this is invite only.

This unique 4-mile run/walk has a one of a kind spectacular panoramic view as participants make their way to Coronado’s beautiful Tidelands Park from downtown San Diego over the Coronado Bay Bridge. A Sad day for San Diego. Former NFL star Junior Seau was found shot to death at his home this Wednesday morning, May 2,  in what police said appeared to be a suicide. 

Police Chief Frank McCoy said Seau’s girlfriend reported finding him unconscious with a gunshot wound to the chest and lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful. The Oceanside, California, police chief says Junior Seau’s death is being investigated as a suicide.

Seau was a standout linebacker with the University of Southern California before going to the San Diego Chargers, his hometown team, whom he led to the Super Bowl following the 1994 season. “Everyone at the Chargers is in complete shock and disbelief right now. We ask everyone to stop what they’re doing and send their prayers to Junior and his family,” the team said in a statement. Seau remained with the Chargers until 2003 and went on to play with the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots before retiring after the 2009 season.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the former football star’s friends and family.

Rwandan Orphan Project Annual Benefit at The Alexander Salazar Fine Art Galary

The Rwandan Orphan Project is an orphanage and a center for street children located just outside of Kigali, Rwanda. The project is dedicated to providing housing, clothing, food, health care, education and many other needs to nearly 100 vulnerable children from around Rwanda. The annual San Diego fundraising event to help this great cause will  be happening this Sunday from 5:30 to 8:30pm.  Please join us for an exciting evening that includes lots of hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, music, dancing, amazing art and an eclectic silent auction including items from Rwanda!
