Description: Come on out to the Kiwanis Kite Festival in Ocean Beach to catch some fun on an ocean breeze. The event covers a day of kite making, decorating, flying and judging. For those looking to just watch the aeronautical action, there is plenty of food and live music – and even a parade!

Where: Fashion Valley Mall

Description: From now until September 19 the Fashion Valley Mall is the place to be for those looking for a fun and free way to fill your Fridays and Saturdays. Fanboygaming.com hosts the highly competitive video game tournaments at the Microsoft Store where you can enjoy the hottest titles around with your fellow friends and gamers.

Where: Balboa Park

Description: Punk rock and poetry often go hand-in-hand. At least in San Diego that is. Join Jimmy Jazz, an author and thriving voice in the community known for decades of poetry reading at events such as Lollapalooza, as he performs his first read in 8 years. Share the experience with wine and Jimmy’s punk poetry friends at the Museum of the Living Artist’s Poetry & Art Series 2013 in Balboa Park.

Where: Oak Riparian Park

Description: Experience the best breathtaking views nature has to offer right here in our own backyard! Volunteers from the San Diego Natural History Museum share a delicate appreciation of plants and animals while showing off some of the area’s most spectacular landscapes. This free 3 mile walk requires no reservation, just some cozy kicks, a quick cruise up the coast and a curiosity for nature.
