Must See Things To Do In San Diego
If you are looking for a vacation spot that is affordable, family oriented, and has more things to do than a casino can offer, then San Diego may be the place to be. San Diego is a beautiful seaside city on the Pacific coast of California recognized for its vast, inviting beaches, parks and natural wildlife. The zoo is home to numerous gardens, a deep bay, and a large naval base. A popular deep-sea port is home to the US’s first and only under-sea military base. The city is also known for its annual San Diego Gay and Lesbian Pride Festival, the city’s annual Gay and Lesbian Christmas parade, and other popular festivals.
Just a short drive north of San Diego is Point Loma, another seaside gem. Located on a peninsula jutting into the sea, Point Loma is a bustling community with a range of venues and events. The most popular annual event is the Gay and Lesbian pride Parade, which are held every June. A major annual event, San Diego State University’s campus also holds pride festivals and events.
Besides hosting some of the nation’s biggest gay pride celebrations, San Diego also offers a number of other great San Diego things to do. A few of the must-do experiences include visiting the San Diego Zoo and the Children’s Museum of San Diego, or taking a ride on the zoo’s cable cars. The Pacific Ocean is just a short drive away, so you can visit the beautiful marine park on San Diego’s Pacific Coast: Miramar.
For those who enjoy playing water sports, San Diego has plenty of that as well. A few of the best beaches to visit are Windansea Beach, La Jolla Cove, Black’s Beach and Mission Bay Park. If you prefer not to play in the water, you’ll be able to experience all the beauty of land by taking a drive along the beautiful coastal dunes. These dunes are covered with ocelots, llamas, and other exotic wildlife. You can even spend a day enjoying the gorgeous views of the Coastal Range on a camel ride along the trail to Windansea Beach.
If you prefer the more naturalistic pleasure of life, you might enjoy watching seals feed at the San Diego Zoo’s Pacific Beach. To get to this area, you’ll need to take a train, bus or taxi. Another of the fascinating things to do near the zoo is to climb to the top of the observation deck at the top of the north wall of the sea world. From here you can look out over the waters below as sea horses swim by. Of course there’s plenty more to see and do in San Diego than these two attractions.
The Historic Park and the Sea World are also very popular attractions in San Diego. Both of these wonderful sites are in Old Town. However, Old Town San Diego has even more to offer than the aforementioned two. There are many little shops, restaurants and quaint little cafes in Old Town. Many of these things to do in San Diego, are things you can do all year round.
