Del Mar Opening Day on Wednesday July 17th 2013 is one of the most fabulous, fashionable and fun festivities in San Diego ,California. Del Mar Opening Day will be featuring a Hat Contest, parties, music , live horse racing and much more fun stuff
The famous Del Mar Racetrack is celebrating 76 years for the horse racing destination and holds its tradition well. The event is like an occasion in the region. The celebs, Alist , the local San Diegans, high profile visitors, and the locals are always excited for the opening day.
Opening day will feature top rated horse racing and will be held daily from the opening day till September 2013. The first race post time will be at 2.00 PM most days, and on Friday it will start from 4 PM.
To promote the sport, the Del Mar Racetrack is blending the sports with fashion to attract its 50000 fans.Hat Contest is one the most fascinating events in Del Mar Horse race opening day. The Hat Contest aims to display the beauty, race, color, and diversity of the racing.

Wearing hats is a tradition on Del Mar horse race opening Day. San Diego visitors and locals always dress to impress featuring all types of hats, attire, and party wear for the event. Every horse race has different hat categories to wear to participate in the contest. Those categories have been selected based on the theme of the race, venue, or even based on a cause on the region.

The winner will be announced in the public display anytime during the racing.
Del Mar Race track also has exciting Live Summer Concerts which will go on from July 19 to August 31, 2013. Live music bands include B-52s, Fitz & the Tantrums, Sammy Hagar & the Wabos, Sammy Hagar & the Wabos, Iration, Pinback, Steel Pulse, Weezer, Reggae Fest featuring Ziggy Marley etc.
