The Gaslamp Quarter is the historic heart of San Diego, California. The Gaslamp Quarter extends from Broadway to Harbor Drive, and from 4th to 6th Avenue. It is a 16½ block historical neighborhood in Downtown San Diego and is the center of downtown night life. The Quarter is home to many events and festivals, including Mardi Gras in the Gaslamp, Street Scene Music Festival, Taste of Gaslamp and ShamROCK, a St. Patrick’s Day event. PETCO Park, home of the San Diego Padres is located one block away in downtown San Diego’s East Village.

With hotels, nightclubs and over 50 restaurants, the gaslamp is the place to go for San Diego nightlife. In the past several years, the area has undergone a major gentrification from the past and added many high end establishments to upgrade the downtown area. Hotels include the Hard Rock, Se, Andaz, Hotel Solamar, with its top floor view bar, J-Six, the Omni, Hilton, the Hyatt with its sky lounge Top of the Hyatt with spectacular bay views from the 4oth floor, the Keating, Sofia and Indigo just to name some of the newer additions.
Restaurants abound in every style of cuisine, from American to Indian to Middle Eastern and Asian. For a nightclub feel with music pumping and an ehnic flavor, try Ra for sushi, or Red Pearl Kitchen for Chinese. If kebobs and rice is your style, Bandar offers a Persian dining experience. Or check out Rama for Thai in a very uniquely decorated setting. Indian options include Monsoon, Masala and Royal India. If you like a good jazz vibe, Croce’s, named for the late Jim Croce and run by his family members has food and drinks and live music. Or try some Italian at Trattoria La Strada. Cafe Sevilla has a newly reopened on 5th avenue and offers Spanish cuisine including tapas and sangria, as well as live Flamenco dinner shows, salsa dancing and more. For American fare, the recently opened Analog and Lincoln Room may suit your fancy.
Other options include nightclubs, many with dining options a well. Newer venues Boudoir, Fluxx, Vanish and Voyeur offer the clubgoing experience, as well as popular but more established venues like On Broadway, Stingaree, Onyx Room Whiskey Girl and more.
