South Park is a newer neighborhood in San Diego, California located east of Balboa Park, and borne out of its southern neighbor Golden Hill. “South Park” is also north of Grant Hill and south of North Park, the boundary being Juniper Street. South Park is a distinct mini-community that also includes the Burlingame historic district, but is part of the Greater Golden Hill neighborhood. There are great views of the downtown skyline and Balboa Park from many homes and streets. The population is an eclectic mix of artists, professionals, singles, couples, young families and not so young families. The feeling of the South Park neighborhood is that of a small town within a big city where residents have deep pride to live and work in such friendly and diverse community.
Notable bars and restaurants include Hamilton’s Tavern and Alchemy right next door, as well as Big Kitchen, Station Burgers, Vagabond Kitchen, South Park Abbey and Whistle Stop.
