What: Centennial Community Celebration

Description: This year, the San Diego Zoo turns 100 years old. To celebrate with all of San Diego, we’re hosting a Centennial Celebration on May 14. This is a free-to-attend sight and sound spectacular in Balboa Park, at the Plaza de Panama and Spreckels Organ Pavilion.
Starting at 6 p.m., there will be pre-show activities and entertainment, including a variety of food trucks to feed your inner beast. Dr. Zoolittle will lead the crowd as we attempt to set a Guinness World Record.
At 8 p.m., the event’s special performance is guaranteed to be like no other, featuring Tony and Grammy award-winner Heather Headley.
This is the Zoo’s way to say “thank you” to the community for a century of support!

Description: This four-mile run/walk offers a one-of-a-kind panoramic view as participants make their way to Coronado’s Tidelands Park from downtown San Diego over the Coronado Bay Bridge. During the finish-line celebration, runners receive a Finisher’s Medal and event shirt to commemorate the 30th year and free transportation back to downtown. You’ll start at One Park Boulevard at Harbor Drive (between the Hilton San Diego Bayfront and the San Diego Convention Center) and travel south along Harbor Drive to Cesar E. Chavez Parkway, head east to National Avenue, and then over the Bay Bridge.
