San Diego Things to Do

When you decide to travel to San Diego, there are a lot of different things to do and see while here. Here, there are endless possibilities for people of all ages and walks of life. San Diego is famous for its beautiful beaches, beautiful parks and warm, tropical climate. Immense Balboa Park offers a great view of the bay and the skyline of San Diego’s downtown area. A deep blue harbor is home to many an aircraft Carrier-turned-mall, with the famous USS Midway, a World War II aircraft-carrier, also available for visitors. A few blocks north of here is Sea World, where you can swim and feed the cute and cuddly marine animals.

A few blocks east of San Diego’s downtown is the beautiful Torrey pines park, where families can go for nature walks, bicycle rides and nature studies. Further east at La Jolla, is the University of California, San Diego. This university has been ranked as one of the top schools in the nation and is very close to the famed San Diego Zoo. The flower fields dotting the region are perfect for wedding photos, and there is no better place to grab a picnic and some seaside fun.

For those individuals who like to hike, mountain biking and horseback riding are some of the best San Diego things to do. The mountain bike trails, near El Cajon, are some of the best in the country, and the wildlife watching from the coastline make these trails especially popular. Hiking trails around Torrey Pines are also popular, especially if you are trying to get away from the tourist traps and into the natural beauty of San Diego’s Coastal Mountains. Another popular hiking trail in San Diego’s Coastal Range is State Route 10 highway, which runs along the San Diego-La Jolla Coast.

To get away from it all, some of the best San Diego things to do include taking a hot air balloon ride to see the sunset. The entire San Diego area is easily accessible via air balloon, and the pilot will take you out over the sea and into the heart of San Diego. For those who are into outdoor sports, hiking and climbing are popular pastimes, and the state park in Chumaceturf is just one of the best places to go. There are many different hiking trails in the Chumaceturf state park, and the whole area is surrounded by numerous beautiful beaches and seaside homes.

The La Jolla Cove State Park is one of the finest natural beach parks in the whole of San Diego County. This beach park features a number of amenities, including boating, swimming, surfing, fishing, and hiking. A great portion of State Route 895 heads through La Jolla Cove, and it is possible to take this route to several of San Diego’s most well-known beaches; that is until the park gets too congested with tourists. In order to save time, and to get a greater view of the coastline, carpool or ride share so you can visit all of the beaches without having to drive. Besides Chumacolt and La Jolla Cove, the other popular California State Parks are located in San Diego’s coastal range; this means that you’ll find many more beaches in the area to enjoy.

If you are into water parks, then head to North San Diego to enjoy the Sea World. Sea World features many different rides and roller coasters for kids, and adults alike. For more extreme activities, the Orca Waves rides are the most famous and were once operated on a submarine. The San Diego Zoo is another great location for things to do in San Diego. From its giant trees, flamingos, and resident orangutans, to its exciting zoo animals, San Diego Zoo has something to keep everyone busy and thrilled.
