If you love surfing and snorkeling in the great outdoors, then San Diego is the perfect place for you. San Diego is a metropolitan city on the Pacific coast of California, recognized for its great beaches, monuments and temperate climate. Numerous parks, beaches and public places of interest are found here, and there are always plenty of exciting activities to keep you busy and interested in the big city. A deep bay is home to the famed San Diego Zoo, and a number of art galleries, museums, artist studios and gardens. A popular deep harbor ferry runs to downtown San Diego, where many tourists visit the world famous zoo and the main public library.

A must see in San Diego, although it’s not exactly one of the most popular San Diego things to do. A hiking trail that begins in Pacific Beach and goes all the way up to Miramar is popular among locals and tourists alike. Featuring breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, hiking trails provide excellent opportunities to view whales and other sea creatures. You will find many other fun activities in and around the area, including sailing, kayaking, whale watching, surfing, and more.

The entire region surrounding the beach is a hot spot for great San Diego family fun, with hundreds of beaches and parks to visit and activities to enjoy. The majority of San Diego’s beaches are in La Jolla and sit close to gorgeous San Diego Bay. Of course, you can’t leave the area without hitting the numerous national parks in the area, including SeaWorld, the Natural History Museum, and the Wild Animal Park. Further north is Mission Bay Park, with its abundance of public playgrounds and nature parks.

Further north from Pacific Beach is Mission Bay Park, which offer a variety of outdoor sports, nature walks, and baseball diamonds. The park also offers one of the best natural bird parks in the country, so bring your binoculars and have a look. Further north is the City of San Diego’s Central Park, which is filled with beautiful flower fields and public park areas. The flower fields stretch from Golf Course Park to Prospect Park, and are home to many species of birds. The centrally located park is also home to the San Diego Zoo and SeaWorld, making this a great central location for San Diego family fun.

Those who are looking for more extreme activities should head north from Pacific Beach to the north side of San Diego proper. This section of town is known as Gaslamp District, home to some of San Diego’s most infamous nightspots. Some of these include the Gaslamp Quarter downtown, the Gaslamp District downtown, and the infamous Dr. Pepper’s off of Second Street downtown. The Dr. Pepper’s marquee is a mainstay downtown during the night, and is the place to go if you want to party until dawn. These are some of the wildest and most exciting spots in San Diego, and there are plenty of San Diego things to do in them to keep the whole family busy.

Those families who prefer to stay on dry land can take a San Diego family tour, where they can visit various sites such as the Coronado Island ferry terminal, the ship channel, the Historic Coronado National Historic Landmark, and the Embarcadero. These tours are a good way to see the sights without driving through traffic, which is often inevitable in San Diego. For those adventurous types, Mission Bay Park is a good place to visit, since it offers a scenic drive along the bay and an overlook of the bay. This is also a great place for nature lovers to get out and enjoy nature at its best!
