San Diego has got to have one of the best selection of Farmer’s Markets out there. And for all you farmer’s market newbies, we’re not talking about a couple stands of fresh produce (although there are plenty of those). Here in San Diego, our farmer’s markets are a full blown activity. Some are more elaborate and interactive than others, but they all most certainly provide great entertainment, beautiful, unique arts and crafts, and fresh, delicious food.
So what makes a farmer’s market, well, a farmer’s market? A certified farmers’ market is a location approved by the County Agricultural Commissioner where certified farmers offer for sale only those agricultural products they grow themselves, or products from another certified farmer. To become a certified farmer, one must satisfactorily meet the requirements of an inspection by the Department of Agriculture, thus allowing them to sell his produce at Certified Farmers’ Markets.
So if these products can get pass by personal inspections by the Department of Ag, the stuff has gotta be good. There’s at least one farmer’s market a day here in San Diego, so be sure to check one out. Maybe even check them all out! We’re pretty sure you won’t be disappointed.
