We’re just a tad confused why Oktoberfest is called, well “Oktoberfest,” when it’s actually held starting the last weekend of September. Although we may be scratching our heads, we are certainly not complaining! Check out these Oktoberfests in San Diego that will be going on this weekend, yes, the last weekend in September!
What: Oktoberfest in El Cajon
When: Friday, September 28 from 4-10pm, Saturday, September 29 from 12-10pm and Sunday, September 30 from 12-9pm
Where: 1017 S. Mollison Ave., El Cajon, CA 92020
Description: Oktoberfest in El Cajon is hosted by the German American Societies of San Diego. Held during the last weekend of September and the first weekend of October, El Cajon will be filled with traditional German foods, German beers and an authentic band from Germany, Guggenbach-Buam, who have flown in from Germany to perform at this event for the last eight years. Other activities include traditional folk dancing performances, craft booths and games.
What: Pugtoberfest
When: Saturday, September 29 from 2-5pm
Where: 1111 Sunset Cliffs Blvd., San Diego, CA 92107
Description: Join the Pug Rescue of San Diego County for a day filled with beer, food, boutiques, a psychic reader, pug socializing and much more! And don’t worry, all breeds of dogs are welcome. All proceeds go directly to animal care costs. Adult $22 and Children 15 & under $12. Deadline for online tickets is Thursday Sept 27, 5 PM. At the door the tickets will be $25 and $15 respectively.
What: Green Flash’s 1st Oktoberfest
When: Sunday, September 30 from 12-6pm
Where: 6550 Mira Mesa Blvd., San Diego, CA 92121
Description: Mira Mesa’s brewery, Green Flash, will be giving visitors a full lineup of fall brews, overflowing food tents and tons of upbeat polka music. Inside of the Biergarten, you’ll find a food village with brats from Swieners, authentic Bavarian soft pretzels from the San Diego Pretzel Company and world cheeses from Taste Cheese. In the tasting room, you can try the custom Green Flash Stein along with Fest Beer, cask offerings and the rest of the seasonal beers. The family-friendly event will also include a costume contest, face-painting and mask-making. Admission is free; food and drink is extra.
