What: Downtown San Diego Thanksgiving Day 5K & 10K Run to Benefit Hunger-relief Programs
When: Thursday November 27, 2014
Where: Horton Square Downtown, San Diego
Description: Jewish Family Service and the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank are teaming up for the 13th annual Thanksgiving Day Run for the Hungry sponsored by Westfield Horton Plaza, JIMBO’S…Naturally and Skechers Performance Division.

Food Bank CEO James A. Floros said, “We are calling on our supporters to sign up for this year’s run because we desperately need the community’s help this holiday season. The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank is feeding 370,000 people per month, and the proceeds from this year’s run will be critical for us to meet the need over the holiday season. So get your running shoes on and help us feed San Diego’s hungry.”

What: Cowboy Jack Concert

Where: Junior Seau Oceanside Pier Amphitheater, San Diego
Description: “Cowboy Jack” performs solo with guitar and harmonica for special events, fairs, festivals and was the singing cowboy at Rawhide Ranch in Bonsall, CA. for twenty years. He has played for President Gerald and Betty Ford at their grandson’s birthday parties in Rancho Santa Fe. Cowboy Jack’s traditional country band “North County Cowboys,” entertains all over Southern California. Cowboy Jack’s music has been played on radio stations in Europe and Australia. Cowboy Jack will be performing on the stage at the Oceanside Amphitheater on Thanksgiving morning.

What: Pacific Marine Credit Union O’side Turkey Trot

Where: Oceanside Civic Center, San Diego
Description: Come “move your feet before you eat” this Thanksgiving at Oceanside’s 9th Annual PMCU Turkey Trot 5 Mile or 5K run/walk. Race Course is a very fast downhill which starts at the Civic Center and finishes at the Pier area along the beach. Join one of the fastest growing holiday traditions. Be sure to bring the whole family, as there will be races for everyone. Event offers a Costume contest, Largest Teams competition, Live entertainment everywhere and finisher medals for all participants.

What: Del Mar Thanksgiving Family Fun Run
When: Thursday November 27, 2014
Where: Del Mar Racetrack
Description: While waiting for the turkey to cook, come out to Del Mar with the entire family to do a one mile lap around the racetrack itself! Expected to participate are many of your favorite jockeys running right with you. Participants receive racetrack admission and parking, a fun run t-shirt, and a portion of the proceeds benefit Helen Woodward Animal Center and their equestrian therapy program for children and adults with special needs. Kids prizes will also be available. After the run, Helen Woodward will be hosting one of their beloved adoption events at the track. Plus a puppy race. Then stay for some racing with our special 11 a.m. post.

What: Turkey Trot – Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary

Description: Join the Coronado Unit of the Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary for a turkey trot fun run. The race starts at Glorietta Bay. Proceeds benefit Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego.

What: Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Where: Viejas Arena at Aztec Bowl, San Diego
Description: Based in New York City, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra united a 60-piece orchestra plus chorus with the talents of Paul O’Neill, a veteran hard rock producer. The group released its debut album, Christmas Eve and Other Stories, just in time for the 1996 holiday season. The Christmas Attic followed in 1998, and two years later the group issued its first non-seasonal recording, Beethoven’s Last Night. In 2004, the band returned with the new album Lost Christmas Eve and collected all its Christmas recordings on the three-CD/one-DVD collection Christmas Trilogy. In 2009, after a five-year hiatus, the group returned with the two-disc Night Castle, a non-holiday-related concept album. A five-song EP, Dreams of Fireflies (On a Christmas Night), followed in 2012.
