San-Diego-International-Beer-FestivalWhat: San Diego International Beer Festival

When: June 20 – 22, 2014

Where: Del Mar Fairgrounds

Description: Five sessions with more than 400 types of beer! Get yourself to the Del Mar fairgrounds and enjoy a weekend of revelry with your friends and tasting all kinds of beer. Nearly 200 breweries from around the world will showcase their wares while beer aficionados will be in heaven. The event will also feature specialty vendors selling a variety of gifts and accessories for the beer lover. There will be stage blaring advice on home brewing along with educational demonstrations with Stone’s Bill Sysak and Alesmith’s Peter Zien. There is VIP lounge upgrade if you are looking for a unique experience with loung-style seating and food pairing. There will be five craft beer stations with unlimited beer sampling for the first two hours of each session. Sessions 1 and 2 are scheduled for June 20, sessions 3 & 4 for June 21 and session 5 for June 22, 2014. Get your tickets on-site at the Del Mar Fairgrounds Box Office, open Tuesdays through Saturdays, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

When: Saturday, June 21 – Sunday, 22, 2014, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

 Where: UCSD Warren Field

Description: Join the crowd at UC San Diego’s Warren Field at the corner of Gilman Drive and Voigt Drive on the east campus area. Get free parking and free entry for children under 16 and military personnel. Many artists have donated their work to be featured in the silent auction and treasure hunt. Get great bargains for theater tickets and golf outings. One of the most anticipated viewings has been donated by Monarch Fine art of La Jolla, an original Desjardins called Etude 57. Grab a plate of cheese, fruits and cold cuts from The Cheese Shoppe. Make your way to the EBS rustic bar for a glass of wine or a pint of beer. Be entertained by Quartet Nouveau, Ace Tropic, Tom Grisberger, Caprice Strings, Mile Moynier, Ben Owens and Vynyl Putty.

Country-Run-5KWhat: Country Run 5K

When: Saturday, June 21, 2014, 8:00 am to 10:00 am

Where: Del Mar Fairgrounds

Description: Run or walk or sprint through the San Diego County Fair at the first ever Country Run. Take out your shorts and shirts, tees and overalls and just start running. Mosey your way through the San Diego County Fair before it opens to the public. Get a free ticket to the SD Fair and get to know what all the hype is about. Run to country music, shake off those morning blues and pump your hands in time with your legs as you run on high-energy. Sing along to your favorite country songs and get ready to have a good time.

Carlsbad-Music-FestivalWhat: Carlsbad Music Festival Village Walk

When: Saturday, June 21, 2014, 4 pm to 10pm

Where: Village of Carlsbad

Description: 27 artists play 59 sets for 6 hours. The Carlsbad Music Festival Village Walk is a free community event featuring over 40 performances of unique and adventurous music. The event is expected to draw thousands of people to all indoor and outdoor venues throughout the village. Headlining the event will be Wu Man’s new collaboration with Son de San Diego. Other highlights of the festival include cinematic tales, indie-Americana music, music from Southern Mexico, sonic inventions; live scores to silent films, site-specific modern dance and much more.

Euphoria Brass Band, Wu Man and Son de San Diego, G Burns Jug Band, Eyelid Kid, Gayle Skidmore, the Gift Machine, Gallowglass Collective, Kirsten Ashley Wiest, Karl Blau, DJ Lexicon Devil, Matt McBane, MandoBasso, Molly Thompson, Nathan Hubbard, Murray Hidary, Nice World and more.

When: Sunday, June 22, 2014 to July 27, 2014

Where: Lowell Davies Festival Theatre

Description: The summer Shakespeare festival is starting with one of the world’s greatest tragedies, Othello. Directed by Barry Edelstein, Othello, a timeless classic, speaks of crime and passion, love and betrayal, and human nature in all its glory and doom. Othello is a brilliant general who excels both in the battlefield as well as in the Halls of the State. When he marries Desdemona, he ignites strong envy in his lieutenant Iago who sets in motion a dangerous game of manipulation that eventually destroys Othello. The cast is led by Blair Underwood as Othello, Richard Thomas as Iago and Kristen Connolly as the beautiful Desdemona. Edelstein gives an intense and riveting performance with an equal mix of poetry and clashes of swords.
