Where: Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego

Description: Spring is the new summer. Summer Solstice is moving to the spring! Join us for the inaugural launch of The Spring Thing, hosted by our Avant Garde group.

This year’s theme is pool pARTy, inspired by Celeste Boursier-Mougenot’s Untitled (Series #3). This installation presents an array of white porcelain bowls floating in small pools, delicately chiming as they drift across the swirling waters. Jennifer Nelson, Beatriz Zayas, and Tom Lien will serve as co-chairs for the event and will be joined by a host committee comprised of San Diego’s most creative architects, chefs, and local talents.

Witness the downtown location transformed into an underwater odyssey. Enter through a tropical cabana, dine on traditional BBQ with a twist designed by local chef Andrew Spurgin™, and prepare for an underwater dance club experience featuring DJ Man-Cat.

Cost: Tickets to The Spring Thing dinner are $150 for Avant Garde level Members, and $175 for non-members. Party tickets are $50 for Avant Garde level Members, and $75 for non-members.

hot-chocolateWhat: Hot Chocolate 15/5K – Ram Racing Series

When: Sunday, March 23, 2014

Where: Petco Park, San Diego

Description: Packet pick up will be held prior to the event at the Hot Chocolate Runner Expo at etco Park Tailgate lot at the intersection of 14th and K street. Please note that a 15 minute mile pace or faster is required for both the 5k and 15k race distances. A 15 min. mile pace is roughly four miles per hour, equivalent to a very brisk walk.

If you fall below this pace, the race organizers can no longer guarantee course support. Aid Stations, medical support, portable toilets, and road closures will begin to become unavailable to participants. The local police and race organizers will ask you to either move up onto the sidewalk or require you to be transported further up on course to catch up to the 15 min. per mile group.
