What: Pirate Day

Where: San Diego Maritime Museum
Description: Swashbuckling pirates will be on hand at the San Diego Maritime Museum this weekend to entertain, guide, and inform visitors during “Pirate Days.” This event is open to all ages; pirate-themed costumes are encouraged. There will be kids’ costume contests, carnival games, weapon demonstrations, cannon firings, sword fights and many more fun activities, including a treasure hunt hosted by a mermaid.

There is a $2 discount for adults and kids in costume. Note that no steel weapons will be allowed, and all weapons must be “peace tied.” Quartermasters will be on hand to make sure attendees understand the code of conduct.

What: Girls on the Run San Diego Spring 5K

Description: The event will be thrown open to public at 7:30 AM, Sunday, May 17, 2015. Run begins 9 a.m. Where/Venue: NTC Park, Point Loma amy@gotrsd.org The Girls on the Run 5k is the culmination of Girls on the Run of San Diego’s 10-week season. About 600 girls ages 8-14 will celebrate their “girl power” by running 3.1 miles with their coaches, families, friends, teachers and community members.

All participants must register for the event. (Girls participating in the Spring 2015 GOTR season are automatically registered.) Everyone who crosses the finish line receives a medal! Walkers and Strollers are welcome.
