What: San Diego Film Festival 2012

When: Ongoing till Sunday, September 30

Where: Gaslamp Quarter and one in La Jolla

Description: The San Diego Film Festival that started September 26th 2012  is produced by the San Diego Film Foundation, a local not-for-profit whose mission is to support the best in independent film-making while enhancing the diverse cultural landscape and economic vitality of San Diego. 2012 marks the 11th year of this amazing festival and will be launching with new leadership for five days of film, conversation and social gatherings. What: San Diego Oktoberfests 2012

When: Friday to Sunday, September 30

Where: 1017 S. Mollison Ave., El Cajon

Description: We’re just a tad confused why Oktoberfest is called, well “Oktoberfest,” when it’s actually held starting the last weekend of September. Although we may be scratching our heads, we are certainly not complaining! Check out these Oktoberfests in San Diego that will be going on this weekend, yes, the last weekend in September!

 


What: Video Game Tournaments

When: Friday, September 28 from 5pm-9pm

Where: Fashion Valley Mall

Cost: Free

Description: Fanboygaming.com hosts tournaments “of some of the biggest videos games out there” at Microsoft Store.


What: Wine in the Wilderness

When:  Friday, September 28 from 6PM to 8:30PM

Where:Visitor and Interpretive Center, Mission Trails Regional Park, San Diego

Description: Enjoy an evening of Wine, Cheese and Chocolate listening to live music at the beautiful Mission Trails Regional Park. Featuring wines from Sean Minor – 4 Bears Winery. Silent auction items include a Taylor electric guitar. Proceeds will support the program of the San Diego YWCA and provide cash awards to women seeking to improve their educational skills.


What: San Diego Adams Avenue Street Fair 2012

Where: Adams Avenue in Northern Heights

When: Saturday, September 29 from 10am-10pm and Sunday, September 30 from 10am-7pm

Cost: FREE

Description: The Adams Avenue Street Fair is Southern California’s largest FREE two-day music fest and will be celebrating its 31st anniversary this weekend! On Saturday, September 29 from 10-10 and Sunday, September 30 from 10-7, Adams Avenue in Normal Heights will be transformed into an entertainment stomping ground, perfect for all ages.

 


What:  WINGS, WHEELS, AND WARRIORS POKER RUN AND BBQ 

When: Saturday, September 29 from 8 AM to 3 PM

Where: American Legion Post 149, 230 Park Avenue, Escondido

Cost: Free – $25

Description: Ride through SD’s backcountry with stops including Rainbow Oaks Restaurant, Pala Casino, Hideout Saloon. Registration, coffee, kickstands up: 8-9:30am. All bikes welcome. Ride ends at Biggs Harley Davidson (San Marcos) with barbecue, music by the Last Call, more. Price: $25; $15 backseat. Proceeds benefit medical research for veterans.

 


What: Women’s Wellness Expo

When: Saturday, September 29, from 1 PM to 4 PM

Where: MODAvate 11722 Sorrento Valley Road, Suite E, San Diego

Description: Anniversary celebrated during expo with motivational speakers, vendors from local businesses. Proceeds benefit Mental Health Systems agency.

 


What: Cultures in Harmony and Motion 

When: Saturday, September 29, 1 p.m

Where: Casa del Prado Theatre 1650 El Prado, Suite 208, San Diego

Cost: $16 – $30

Description: Second international music and dance festival promises two unique shows offering “the best international performers our city has to offer.” Roster includes Fred Benedetti and George Svoboda (Spanish flamenco), ballet folklorico, Samahan Filipino tribal music and dance, Dornob (Persian Dastgad), Yale Strom and Hot P’stromi (klezmer), much more. Ethnic food, silent auction.
