When: Sunday 9/9 from 11am-7pm

Where: Pacific Beach

Description: Head to PB for the fifth annual celebration of Brazilian culture and fine arts promises traditional Brazilian and international cuisine, multicultural arts, crafts, parade (starting at Dawes and Garnet at 3:30pm), capoeiristas, live music and dance shows. The free festival will be located between Mission Boulevard and Everts Street.

What: Padres Beer Fest

When: Friday 9/7 before first pitch at 7:05pm

Where: Petco Park

Description: Petco Park will host the Padres Beerfest before the San Diego Padres take on the Arizona Diamondbacks. The beer festival will showcase craft brew from local favorites and giants from across the nation. On the list of participating breweries are San Diego staples Stone Brewing Co., Karl Strauss Brewing Co., Ballast Point Brewing Co., Alesmith Brewing Co., and Green Flash Brewing Co., among others. Tickets range from around $10-80.


What: Julian Apple Harvest

When: Saturday 9/1 to whenever the apples are gone!

Where: Julian

Description: Revel in the fall foliage and delight in succulent apples during the Julian Apple Harvest when Julian celebrates the award-winning apples. Located only 45 minutes northeast of San Diego, this charming and historic mountain town offers homemade apple pie, apple cider, art shows and entertainment during this favorite time of year.


What: Grape Day Festival

When: Saturday 9/8 from 9:30am-4pm

Where: Downtown Escondido

Description: The parade procession starts at 9:30am and travels down Grand Ave from Escondido Blvd to Juniper Street. Along the parade route are many local shops, galleries, cafes and restaurants. The free festival takes place at nearby Grape Day Park and features live music and entertainment, a kid’s fun zone, gunny sack races for the kids, a Boy Scout rope bridge, a Civil War encampment, vendor boothes, free grapes, and grape stomping. The event is free to enter and the wine and craft beer tasting pavilion is $20 in advance and $25 at the event.


What: StreetBeat Block Party

When: Saturday 9/8 from 3-11pm

Where: Little Italy

Description: This upscale music festival features the best of local food, spirits, and beer. This is event is for those 21 and over. Gates open at 3pm, and the music floods the streets until 10pm. Afterward, join us inside Anthology for an after party featuring the best local music San Diego has to offer! General Admission tickets are available for $39 and are standing room only. Reserved Seating is also available for $59!


What: 23rd Annual Sycuan Powwow

When: Friday 9/7 to Sunday 9/9

Where: Pow-wow grounds behind the Sycuan Casino

Description: More than $125,000 in prize money will be awarded for top participants in bird singing and dancing and a drum/singing contest.  Native American arts and crafts will be available for purchase, as well as food.  The event, which is free and open to the public, is an opportunity to learn more about Native American culture and heritage.


What: Surf Dog Surf-a-thon

When: Sunday 9/9 from 8am-2pm

Where: Dog Beach Del Mar

Description: Owners and their pets participate in 20-minute heats based on the dog’s weight class during Helen Woodward Animal Center fundraiser. Enjoy “beach bum and bikini babe canine costume contest,” dog agility course, “doo the dah” team surfing competition, vendor booths from surf and pet industries, more. Registration to surf is $30, or come on and watch for free!


What: 82nd La Jolla Rough Water Swim

When: Sunday 9/9 from 8am to 1pm

Where: La Jolla Cove

Description: The La Jolla Rough Water Swim has been a tradition since 1916 – come out for the fun!
