When: Sunday, August 11, 2013 noon to 10 p.m.
Where: Hillcrest along 5th Avenue and University Avenue
Description: CityFest takes place in the heart of Hillcrest and is a huge celebration of community spirit. CityFest 2013 is going to be a spectacular feast for the senses! With over 250 arts, crafts, and food vendors, a grand stage, and a beer garden, there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy. Other highlights include a dunk tank, pony rides, mechanical bull rides, craft activities, and a water mist cool-off zone. CityFest boasts a one-of-a-kind magical atmosphere; the intersection under the Hillcrest sign is going to be closed off and will enclose a Grand Stage and a lush Spirit’s Garden.
Gamble for a cause this year at Hillcrest Hoedown! Streetside Saloon will feature casino tables and games and YOU can gamble for one of four great causes to polish up the neighborhood: Hillcrest Pride Flag, Hillcrest Light Canopy Project, Hillcrest Shuttle System or Street Sidewalk cleaning!
2013 marks the 29th year of major street fair known as CityFest. Each year, CityFest attracts 150,000+ attendees and commemorates the relighting of the neon pink Hillcrest sign.
The neighborhood beacon is illuminated during a lighting ceremony, allowing San Diegans to relive the excitement of seeing the iconic landmark come to life.
