The celebration of comic, movies, films along with celebrity appearances makes it a worthwhile event to look forward to. The Comic-Con convention gets around 500,000 visitors per year and is held at the San Diego Convention Center  near San Diego Gaslamp Quarter. Comic-Con is a signature summertime event for San Diego and this year you will enjoy San Diego Comic-Con from July 18 – 21, 2013.

San Diego Gaslamp in downtown has lots of restaurants, shops, hotels, and entertainment options and the Comic-Con just brings out all the color of California. This year’s comic-con will start off with Preview Night on Wednesday, July 17. The 2013 Comic-Con convention is the 44th year for the show.

Comic-con being the largest comics and pop culture event in the United States and attracts artists, celebrities and fans of comic books and everyone who admires the pop culture. Traditional comic-con events include an eclectic film program, screening rooms devoted to Japanese animation, gaming, as well as over 350 hours of other programming on all aspects of comic books and pop culture.

You will have the opportunity to be Batman or Spiderman for a day at Comic-Con International. You can relive all childhood memories and can fulfill those teenage dreams of saving the world and becoming a super hero. Don’t forget to visit the autograph area, as well as the Artists’ Alley. You will find your favorite comics artists signing autographs and selling or doing free sketches as per fan requests.

You will enjoy previews of upcoming feature films, portfolio review sessions with top comic book and video game companies, the Masquerade, costume contests, awards ceremonies and the Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival. You will also enjoy panels, seminars and workshops with comic book professionals as well. San Diego Comic-Con also showcases shorts and feature length movies that do not have distribution or distribution deals.

Where: Stone Liberty Station, San Diego

When: Wednesday July 17, 2013

Where: Side Bar, San Diego

Description: Celebrate your sneak peek at Side Bar’s super hero themed Industry Night party. Dress up as your favorite super hero and get hooked up with free cover and drink specials. And you won’t be alone; bartenders, VIP hosts and bottle service girls will be decked out in super hero attire, from Superman to Spiderman and Catwoman. So be ready for this awesome party!

When: Thursday, July 18, 2013

Where: FLUXX, San Diego

Description: Machinima, the gaming brand behind Halo, Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Mortal Kombat and even Sonic the Hedgehog, is taking over FLUXX Nightclub for a Comic-Con party on Thursday night. This is a private, invite-only event.

What: Comedy Central Comedy-Con

Where: Float at the Hard Rock Hotel, San Diego

Description: Ever dream of throwing back a few beers, or 12, with the “Workaholics” crew? Comedy Central is hosting a daytime party at the Hard Rock Hotel’s outdoor lounge Float, and the whole gang will be there: Blake, Adam, Ders and Kyle. Plus, Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele will join the fun.

Description: Metallica  has announced that they will perform at a “super-secret spot” following their Comic-Con appearance. The band states: “We can’t just TALK about the film when we are in San Diego… we want to play too! Following our chat in Hall H at Comic-Con, we’ll be heading out to a super-secret spot to have some fun and hit the stage.

Comic-Con attendees will have a chance to win tickets at the Hall H event and Met Club [official METALLICA fan club] members should keep their eyes peeled for more details about chances to win tickets too.

What: Adult Swim Party

When: Saturday, July 20, 2013

Where: House of Blues, San Diego

Description: Adult Swim and IHEARTCOMIX are hosting a dynamic Comic-Con party at House of Blues, featuring a live performance by The Eric Andre Show. Warning: you might get hit in the face by a Big Mac. More party perks: comedian Hannibal Buress and alt-electro band Yacht.
