Seaport-Village-Busker-FestivalWhat: 10th Annual Seaport Village Busker Festival
When: Saturday March 5 to Sunday March 6, 2016
Where: Seaport Village, San Diego
Description: Seaport Village welcomes strange and extraordinary acts from around the world to its 10th annual Spring Busker Festival. The celebration brings colorful street performers – from jugglers on unicycles to stilt walkers, contortionists and acrobalancers – to the waterfront shopping, dining and entertainment district. From noon to 6 p.m. the cobblestone streets of Seaport Village will be transformed into stages for the nine amazing (and bizarre) acts that will compete for a chance to win the coveted People’s Choice Award. Aside from the remarkable performances, visitors will enjoy special offers from more than 50 shops, restaurants and eateries at Seaport Village. This one-of-a-kind event only happens once a year, and entrance to the Busker Festival is FREE. Parking and a shuttle service will be available for festival-goers. Where: La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, Spindrift Drive La Jolla, San Diego
Description: This is the second-oldest tennis event in the United States and has a rich tournament history. First held in 1890 at The Hotel Del Monte in Monterey, California, the event was created to promote the sale of real estate on the Monterey peninsula.The original concept pitted the best players from the East versus those from the West. This coast to coast rivalry was the inspiration for the Davis Cup. Past Winners include Jack Kramer, Ted Schroeder, Bobby Riggs, Pancho Segura, Don Budge, Tony Trabert, Stan Smith, Bob Lutz, Arthur Ashe, Dennis Ralston, and John McEnroe and many other world-class champions.

Description: Following the passing of stand-out high school scholar and athlete Chelsea King, a handful of members of the San Diego running community were so affected by her loss that they asked some of their friends to meet one Saturday to finish the run Chelsea started on February 25 in Rancho Bernardo Community Park. Chelsea’s life was cut short by a heinous act in the midst of her training run on that day in that park. Word quickly spread and on the morning of March 20, 2010 more than 3,500 community members joined together to run and walk in solidarity with, and in honor of Chelsea, who they adopted as one of their own.

It is the mission of Chelsea’s Light Foundation to unite and lead people who are passionate about protecting children and inspiring positive change in their communities.
