dum-dum-girlsWhat: Dum Dum Girls Concert – Blouse

When: Friday March 7, 2014

Where: The Casbah

Description: In the gloriously hot summer of 2012, between tours supporting End Of Daze, Dum Dum Girls locked themselves in and locked out the rest of the world and sat down in my apartment to write a new record — there was a clear view of the New York City sky through iron bars that seemed like a delicious promise. Like all compulsive minds, I was waiting with bated breath (“and whispering humbleness”) to start rolling, to let the music loose.

the-brokers-bandWhat: The Brokers Band

When: Friday March 7, 2014

Where: The Coyote Bar & Grill, Carlsbad

Description: The Brokers Band is one of San Diego’s finest rock-n-roll bands. It’s five talented guys bringing great diversity of experience to their fun, highly energetic, and very tight shows. The band was formed in 1998 as a blues band (The Blues Brokers) and have evolved way beyond that. Now they pride themselves on providing a variety of music for dancing and giving you good times. Never fear; they will still lay down the blues like nobody’s business, once in a while, when called upon. All five players are strong musicians and vocalists in their own right, but when they get together, their chemistry and love of playing as a group is off the charts. With flexibility they created a strong suit, they appear as a quintet, quartet, trio, or even a duo, depending on the requirements of the venue and the occasion, and they always rock the place to the rafters.

shrek-the-magicalWhat: Shrek the Musical

When: Friday March 7, 2014

Where: CYT San Diego at Mater Dei High School, Chula Vista, San Diego

Description:  SHREK THE MUSICAL is based on the Oscar® winning DreamWorks movie, Shrek, that started it all. It brings the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite green ogre to dazzling new life on the stage. In the kingdom of Far Far Away, everything turned upside down, when an ugly and unseemly ogre — and not a handsome prince — shows up and rescues a feisty princess. Throw in a sampling of a bad-smelling donkey who just won’t shut up, a bad guy with a very SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and martial arts training, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there is Shrek. Full of all-new songs, great dancing among the misfits and breathtaking scenery, SHREK THE MUSICAL is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and all in all, an irreverent fun for everyone!
