San Diego is the heart of the greatest weekend activities in California. Chill out with your friends and family for great music, food, drinks & more. Here are some of the best events you have to make time for this weekend:

Cinco-de-MayoWhat: Fiesta Old Town Cinco de Mayo

When: Friday May 2, Saturday May 3 and Sunday May 4, 2014

Where: Old Town State Historic Park, San Diego

Description: Cinco de Mayois the largest festival of its kind in Southern California. This event will feature three days of delicious food and music. The event will feature four LIVE music stages, two Cantina beer gardens, Low Rider car show and a children’s area. Sample the sumptuous feast laid out by more than ten Old Town’s restaurants and eateries. May 2, Friday, will see food and drink specials all day. From 11 am to 10 pm Saturday, May 3, Ballet folklorico competitions will be showcased from 9 am at Fiesta de Reyes. Sunday will see the continuation of all the merriment from 11 am to 6 pm. Stay cool with ice-cold beer and satiate your hunger with more than 20 restaurants offering their tangy and spicy dishes. Take a ride on a stagecoach, or explore the city of culture with its abundant shopping venues.

Sixth College Chocolate Festival

When: Friday, May 2, 2014, 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Where: Sixth College Res Halls, San Diego

Description: If you love all-things chocolate and the earth, being alive and having fun, this is the place to be. Satisfy your craving for chocolate with chocolate fountains, games and raffles, photo booths, jousting, bungee runs and LIVE music! The event is open for all UCSD students at The DoggHouse Quad.

Songbirds-FestivalWhat: Alpine Sage & Songbirds Festival

When: Friday May 2 to Sunday May 4, 2014, 10 am to 4 pm

Where: Viejas Outlet Center, San Diego

Description: Take part in this historic event celebrating the preservation of wildlife. Each ticket will get you to one visit in any of the three days with a map for the gardens. It is a self guided tour and stay as long as you like. The gardens feature incredible water fountains, natural habitats of natives of the animal kingdom, a verdant low-water jungle, a sprawling veggie garden and much more. There are five gardens to tour that are debuting in this event. There are two new bonus sites, one a habitat of winged creatures, the other a rehabilitation facility of birds-of-prey. Get a dose of nature this weekend.

Cost: $20/per person, Groups of 10 or more – $10/person.


 

Harrahs-Rhythm-Blues-FestivalWhat: Harrah’s Rhythm & Blues Festival

When: Saturday, May 3, 2014

Where: Vista Village, Downtown, San Diego

Description: Get set to enjoy the day with breweries, 9 great bands on 3 stages! Have fun at the 3rd Annual Rhythm & Brews Music and Craft Beer Festival with the most popular craft beers of the country. Get access to your favorite breweries and their beers, rock with the tempo of great music and just have fun with your friends. Remember that only people over 21 years of age are allowed in, so keep your photo ID handy.

Where: Mission Bay Park, San Diego

When: Saturday, May 3, 2014

Description: The event kicks off the Asian Pacific Heritage Month. Form your teams now to have a chance to race with the dragons. Check out the new and awesome dragon boats to feel the excitement. Race with your hearts racing to the beat of the drums and come out a winner! Have a great time after the race with the delectable Pan-Asian cuisines and beverages.

Junior-League-Food-Wine-FestivalWhat: 14th Annual Junior League of San Diego Food and Wine Festival

When: Saturday, May 3, 2014, 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Where: La Jolla Cove, San Diego

Description: Gorge on great food from more than 50 of San Diego’s best restaurants along with mouth-watering beverages including wines, craft beers, cocktails and more. Celebrate Kentucky Derby and cheer on for your favorite horse. Take part in Derby day contests and win fabulous prizes. Enjoy the live music and place your money for great items at the silent auction. In short, have a great day full of excitement and delectable food and drinks. Carlsbad-Village-FaireWhat: Carlsbad Village Faire

When: Sunday, May 4, 2014, 8 am to 5 pm

Where: Carlsbad Village, San Diego

Description: Enjoy the largest street fair of the country with over 900 vendors that sell anything from clothing, to accessories and plants, household goods, art in all its shapes and forms, antiques of all kinds and items of home décor. The International food court will feature more than 50 booths serving spicy or continental dishes. Take your pick from Thai to Hawaiian and Italian, Indian and Chinese, local and all – American cuisine. There will also be a Children’s area with games, face painting, a bounce house, a super slide, a rock-climbing wall, arts and various other crafts. The fair will also have a large screen TV and LIVE bands. If you arrive early, take advantage of the hearty breakfast consisting of sausages, pancakes, coffee and juice by the Kiwanis Club of Carlsbad between 7 am and 12 pm. Many streets will be closed so there will be a shuttle service to and from Poinsettia Coaster Station and Westfield Plaza Camino Real.

Manifestival-San-DiegoWhat: Manifestival San Diego

Where: Vision Pulse Creative Events Center, San Diego

When: Sunday, May 4, 2014, 10 am to 6 pm

The day features Interactive Exhibitor Booths, Inspirational Speakers, Drum Circle & Sound Healing, Meditation/Dance Classes, Manifest Your Dream at the Vision Board Station, Healthy Food Booths, Live Music Stage with DJ Barry Thomas and much more.
