A tradition for the La Mesa community, the annual Oktoberfest brings visitors and vendors from all over the region to La Mesa for a weekend dedicated to family, friends, great food and entertainment. The La Mesa Village Merchants Association began this popular event 42 years ago. It has gone from a small street fair to a 2-day festival with over 100 vendors offering goods and services to over 100,000 attendees. Add great food, entertainment and of course, good old German brats, pretzels and cold beer, and you have an event that has something for everyone!

Description: The Pacific Beachfest 5K is PB’s most popular beach run! Runners will start along the beach by Joe’s Crabshack, continue south to Belmont Park in Mission Beach and return along the boardwalk. The runners will move back onto the sand for the final quarter mile to the finish! Every finisher will receive a free tank top, a custom finisher’s medal, free sunglasses, 1 free beer (21+) and live music following the race. All participants in the kids race will receive a tank top, sunglasses and finisher’s medal as well! Pacific Beachfest will also be hosting a pro surf competition, pro volleyball competition, loads of food vendors, kids’ activities, and more. More than 1,000 Jazzercise instructors, customers, family and friends, including many who have been affected by breast cancer, will participate in a huge group fitness class on the deck of the USS Midway. What: Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals

Description: San Diego County’s fastest wieners will go nose-to-nose on Saturday, October 3 to race in the 19th annual Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals – San Diego Qualifying Regionals, taking place at Qualcomm Stadium!
There will also be a costume contest where wiener dogs will get the chance to strut their stuff on the dogwalk. With the recent introduction of Grilled Bratwurst at Wienerschnitzel, Oktoberfest-themed costumes are encouraged!
The top 16 dogs will advance to the San Diego prelims at the Del Mar Race Track on November 8. From there, the top eight dogs will race in the finals taking place at the Holiday Bowl Parade in December.

Description: The new 2015-16 San Dieguito Cotillion Season begins October 3rd and the second dance is October 24th. Registration is now open for 5th through 12th grade children in San Diego County. Children learn to carry themselves with grace and dignity across a dance floor and learn etiquette for a variety of social environments from casual to formal settings. San Dieguito Cotillion is a non-profit organization that provides a healthy social environment where students improve self confidence, communication and social skills, developing friendships with other children while learning to ballroom dance. Classes are held in the Mission Tower at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd, Del Mar, CA 92014. The cost per dance is $23 for each class and classes are held from 4-10:30pm.
